OAKLAND, Calif. -- Carson Palmer wasn't going to apologize for a mistake-filled win by the Oakland Raiders a week after they lost what might have been their best-played game of the season.
Sebastian Janikowski kicked a 40-yard field goal after Cecil Shorts III fumbled on the opening possession of overtime and the Raiders overcame three turnovers and a 14-point deficit to beat the Jacksonville Jaguars 26-23 on Sunday."An ugly win is better than a pretty loss," Palmer said. "I know that. I'm just proud of the way we fought because it wasn't pretty."We did not play up to our standard and play the way we're coached. But we hung in there and defense played great giving us the ball back. It's just good to get out of here with a win."More Jaguars-Raiders Coverage
The Oakland Raiders prevailed in overtime against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday without their best, writes Bill Williamson. Blog
Game notes
The Jaguars have not scored on their first drive for 17 straight games. ... Scobee has 178 career FGs, breaking the team mark of 175 set by Mike Hollis. ... The Coliseum field was completely grass for the first time as the infield dirt was replaced when the Athletics got knocked out of the baseball playoffs.

Research Notes
The Jaguars squandered a 14-3 lead after Blaine Gabbert left with an injured left shoulder in the second quarter against the Raiders Sunday. Their offense struggled with Chad Henne at the helm, as they managed just 66 yards of offense and two first downs. [+]Jaguars Offense by QB, Sunday vs Raiders
