KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Peyton Manning was wooed by the Chiefs early in the offseason, after the four-time MVP had been cut loose by Indianapolis and before he signed a five-year deal with Denver.
On Sunday, he showed exactly why Kansas City was after him.Manning threw for 285 yards and two touchdowns, and led the Broncos down the field in the final minutes when the Chiefs were frantically trying to get a stop, setting up a field goal that sealed a 17-9 victory and their sixth consecutive win.Manning Moves Up More Lists
Peyton Manning won his 149th game with the Broncos' victory Sunday, breaking a tie with his boss, John Elway, on the all-time list. He also moved past the 3,000-yard mark this season, passing Dan Marino on the all-time list. Only Brett Favre has more wins and 3,000-yard passing seasons in NFL history.

Research Notes
QBR: After posting a 31.7 Total QBR in Week 11 vs San Diego, Peyton Manning rebounded with a 71.3 QBR in Sunday's win over the Chiefs.
The turnaround was probably expected, however, as Manning has posted consecutive games with a sub-50.0 QBR only twice since 2008. For context, Drew Brees has already done so twice this season alone.
The Chiefs ran 14 plays on third down Sunday against the Broncos, and Jamaal Charles did not get a single touch or target. The Chiefs entered the game ranked 14th in the league with a 38.7 conversion percentage on third down, but finished Sunday 3-of-14 (21.4 percent). Charles had 107 yards on 23 rushes Sunday, and has converted five of his 13 third-down touches (38.5 percent) this season.
NEXT LEVEL: The Broncos passing game struggled in the fourth quarter, with Peyton Manning completing just one of his first 10 passes for one yard before the Broncos' last drive. Manning was off target on four of his passes and Broncos' receivers dropped three others before Manning completed a pair of third-down passes to Demaryius Thomas to extend the final drive and put Matt Prater in position for a 34-yard field goal and extend the Denver lead to eight.
NEXT LEVEL: Demaryius Thomas finished the day with four catches on eight targets for 82 yards and the game-winning touchdown Sunday against the Chiefs. After an adjustment period early this season to his new quarterback, Thomas has been on fire over his last seven games. [+]Demaryius Thomas Receiving, 2012 Season

Peyton Manning moved past the 3,000-yard mark in terms of passing for the season in the first half of Sunday's Broncos-Chiefs game.
