Sunday Blitz: Cardinals-49ers Recap
Jim Basquil and Eric Allen break down the 49ers' 27-13 win over the Cardinals.Tags: Sunday Blitz, Jim Basquil, Eric Allen, NFL, Fantasy
SAN FRANCISCO -- Bare-chested Joe Staley and Mike Iupati jumped up and down wearing only their shorts, each offensive lineman doing his best to will the Vikings to victory from afar.
The 49ers -- sporting fresh red NFC West champion caps after beating the Arizona Cardinals 27-13 on Sunday -- crammed into the cozy confines of their locker room and became Minnesota's fiercest cross-country cheering section. When Blair Walsh's 29-yard field goal sailed through the uprights for the Vikings as time expired to give San Francisco a playoff bye, the tiny dressing area in Candlestick Park's south corner erupted into a crazy, celebratory scene.Crabtree Moving On Up
Michael Crabtree had eight catches for 172 yards and two TDs in Sunday's win against the Cardinals. He became the first 49ers player with 1,000 receiving yards since Terrell Owens had 1,102 in 2003, and he continued a steady improvement since breaking into the league in 2009. Here's a look:
| Year | Yards |
|---|---|
| 2012 | 1105 |
| 2011 | 874 |
| 2010 | 741 |
| 2009 | 625 |

Game notes
Cardinals Pro Bowl CB Patrick Peterson was lost to a left hamstring injury in the fourth quarter. RG Pat McQuistan was sidelined in the first with an ankle injury and didn't return, while LB Paris Lenon injured his left hand in the second half. ... 49ers LB Aldon Smith went without a sack for the third straight game, winding up with 19 1/2 -- three shy of Michael Strahan's single-season NFL record set in 2001 for the Giants.

Research Notes
NEXT LEVEL: Frank Gore set the 49ers career franchise rushing touchdown mark with a 2-yard score in the fourth quarter. All eight of Gore's rushing touchdowns this season have come with at least eight defenders in the box. |
NEXT LEVEL: Colin Kaepernick was 3-of-4 targeting Michael Crabtree at least 15 yards downfield, and their 49-yard touchdown connection in the second quarter put Crabtree over the 1,000 receiving yard mark this season, making him the first 49ers receiver to reach that plateau since Terrell Owens in 2003. Crabtree was only targeted five times on such throws by Alex Smith this season, compared with 15 times with Kaepernick at quarterback. |
